Mary Sue Frazier, 78, of Hinton went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Summers County Appalachian Regional Hospital following a long illness.
Born February 26, 1935 in Hinton, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Macil Adkins Ward.
Mary Sue was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hinton. She was a loving wife and mother to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She retired from Summers County Appalachian Regional Hospital as a Cook and Supervisor with 23 years of service. Prior to that she worked at the old Hinton Hospital for 22 years as well as Jack?s Restaurant, The Diner and The Steakhouse. After retirement she catered dinners for the Hinton Lions Club, the Hinton Ruritan Club, the Hinton Rotary Club, the Summers County Hospital Auxillary and the City of Hinton Fire Department dinners. She also cared for and fed the less fortunate and hungry in the community. She was one of the founding members of the Helping Hands Committee at Summers County Appalachian Regional Hospital. Mary Sue?s chicken and dumplins and vegetable soup were staples at Train Days for 17 years.
Mary Sue was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Pitzer and four brothers, Harold, Harding, Ray and Curly Joe Ward.
Those left to cherish her memory include a husband of 35 years, Danny Frazier; two daughters, Mrs. Linda Caudle and husband Rick of Hinton and Mrs. Peggy Cales and husband Roger of Waynesboro, PA; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; five sisters, Connie Cox and husband Robert of Ellison Ridge, Diane Lilly and husband Ollie of Ellison Ridge, Dreama Cox and husband Tom of Hamilton, OH, Judy Copeland and husband Buddy of Cleveland, OH and Phyllis Gillan and husband Steve of Beckley; two brothers, Harry Ward of Hamilton, OH and Douglas Ward and wife Brenda of Beckley and special friend, Jimmy Dale Gunter.
Funeral services will be 12:00 PM Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastors Roy Lee Honaker Jr., Roy Carter and Robert Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the Cales Cemetery on Chestnut Mountain near Hinton. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 6-9 PM on Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be members of the City of Hinton Fire Department.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren; Michele Brookes, Cheri Rae Lytle, Mark Caudle, Chris Cales and Joshua Cales.
