Mary Elizabeth Ford Mann, 94, of Hilldale, went to be with the Lord on October 10, 2013 at Main Street Care in Hinton. Born on November 26, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Calvin and Mary Bertie Brown Ford. She grew up in Ballengee, and was a 1936 graduate of Talcott High School.
Preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, Ashby Mann, and two brothers, Mason and Glendon Ford.
Survived by four stepdaughters, Jane Meador of Hilldale, Debra Meadows (Phillip) of Hilldale, Connie Buckland (Gene) of Forest Hill and Bonnie Shilling (Joe) of Waverly, OH and two nieces, Vickie Lyons (Bill) and Karen Hall (Greg).
Left to cherish her memory as grandmother are seven grandchildren, Zachary Meador (Kristen) of Daphne, AL, Rodney Bower of Talcott, Christin Bower of Hilldale, Brandon Buckland of Forest Hill, Bethany Buckland of Hilldale, Bryanne Shilling and Catlin Shilling of Waverly, OH and four great-grandchildren, Gabriel Meador, Rowan Meador, Brailyn Cook and Jaidyn Cooper.
Mary Elizabeth?s lifelong dedication to the Lord and to the service of others was evident in her outstanding career as a nurse at Hinton Hospital for over 40 years, and then as Director of Nursing at the Summers County LPN School. She was a member of the Mt. Pisgah United Methodist in Hilldale where she had been a Sunday school teacher and belonged to the United Methodist Women. She provided service to the community thru her work as a charter member in the Hinton Woman?s Club, Hilldale-Talcott Ruritan Club and Eastern Star. Many lives will be forever blessed by the love and care of Mary Elizabeth Ford Mann.
Services celebrating the life of Mary Elizabeth will be Sunday, October 13, 2013 at 3:00 pm at Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church in Hilldale. Burial will follow at later date. Friends may call from 1:00 pm until service time on Sunday at the church.
Gene Buckland, Joe Shilling, Phillip Meadows, Rick Moorefield, Zachary Meador, Rodney Bower, Brandon Buckland and Carson ?Woody? Blankenship will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Hospice of Southern WV, in care of Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive Beckley, WV 25801 or Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church in care of Lynn Crowder Rt.1 Box PH 31 Hinton, WV 25951.
