Mary Mazzella

Mary Mafalda Costa Mazzella, 82, of 315 Maple St., Hinton, died Sunday, May 15, 2005 at her home, following a long illness. Born September 12, 1923 at Hinton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rosina Bava Casta. Mrs. Mazzella was a lifelong resident of Hinton. She was a lifelong member of the St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Hinton, she and her husband John owned and operated The Shore Drive-In, the first drive in restaurant in Summers Co., and the first restaurant on the Hinton By-Pass, it stayed in operation from 1947 until 1965 when they opened John?s Drive-In and operated it until 1977. Preceded in death by her husband, John J. Mazzella in 1972, a grandson, John Robert Mazzella in 1976, two sisters; Josephine Costa Meador and Julia Costa Bartgis and one brother, Eugene A. Costa. Survived by two sons, Joseph and Robert Mazzella both of Hinton, two granddaughters, Angela Houck and husband Mark of Hinton and Leia Antonette Mazzella all of Hinton and one grandson, Joseph Michael Mazzella of Cincinnati, OH. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Hinton with Father Joseph Vincent as Celebrant. Rosary will be recited at 12:30 P.M. Friends may call at the church from 1:00 P.M. until funeral time on Tuesday. Burial will follow in the Restwood Memorial Gardens at Hinton. In Lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to St. Patrick?s Catholic Church. Pallbearers: Bill Humphreys, Joe Blankenship, Jimmy Tassos, Kit Durnan, Harry L. Keaton and Mark Houck.
