Maxine Meeks, 91, of Hinton passed away at her home Saturday, August 16, 2014 after a long struggle with many serious health issues.
Born September 7, 1922 in Summers Co. she was the daughter of the late Howard and Rosa Gill Switzer. Maxine worked on the shipyards at Portsmouth, VA during World War II and later as a baker and then as a cook at the Summers County Jail. She was a member of the Keatley Springs Baptist Church and later joined the Upland Baptist Church where she attended as long as health permitted.
Preceded in death by her husband, Harold "Red" Meeks with whom she enjoyed 60 wonderful years of marriage, infant sister, Margie Switzer.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Woodrow Meeks and wife Karleana along with their two children Ashley and Joey Meeks and one great granddaughter, Rosabella Noel Meeks.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Benny Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Upland Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 am until time of service on Tuesday at the funeral parlors.
Eric Hicks, David Culbertson, Sonny Angell, Wilford Adkins and family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Friends and relatives wishing to join her and others in Heaven with the Lord have only to trust Jesus in their hearts (really trust Jesus) as their savior and confess him with their mouth.
The family wishes to thank Joann and Jimmy, Lloyd and Eric, Jackie and Ruth, Mike, Jack, Marlene, Sonny, Phyllis and Benny, Dottie and Jim, Mary and Alva and Mark Fox for their help and support.
