Melvin Edward Williams, 78, of Tempa, died Thursday, June 30, 2005 at his home, following a long illness. Born October 14,1926 at Tempa, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary Skaggs Williams. Melvin was a former Coal Miner, Logger, and Farmer. He was a member of the Tempa Baptist Church and enjoyed music and spending time with his grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Richmond Boone Williams in Dec. of 1983, one son, Ricky Matthew Williams, a step-daughter, Josephine Boone Patterson, seven brothers, Okey, Hobert, Clarence, Ira, Seth, Virgil and Leonard Williams, two sisters, Reba Williams and Emma Dick. Survived by three sons, Delmas, Kenneth and Larry Williams all of Alderson, three daughters, Helen Maddy of Lewisburg, Jeannie Hicks and Gail Williams of Alderson, three stepchildren, Shelby Boone of Alderson, Lou Freda Belcher of Greensboro, NC and Patsy Rush of Elkton, MD, one sister, Ruby Bowles of Hilldale, 25 Grandchildren, 36 Great Grandchildren and 13 Great-Great Grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 P.M., July 3, 2005 at the Tempa Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Williams- Richmond Cemetery at Tempa. Friends may call at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors in Hinton from 6-9 P.M. Saturday and at the Church one hour prior to services. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Flowers will be welcomed however, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tempa Baptist Church.
