Mildred Adkins

August 22, 1927 — December 21, 2014

Mildred Charlene Adkins, 87, of Tug Creek Mountain, Hinton, died Sunday, December 21, 2014 peacefully at her home surrounded by her family following a short illness.
She was born in Ramp on August 22, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Nannie Harr Martin. She was a lifelong resident of Summers County, a mother and a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening and quilting during the winter. She was a faithful member of Hinton Gospel Tabernace in Hinton. She attended church right up to the last few weeks of her life.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Beulah Adkins; four brothers, Charles, Leslie, Johnny, and Vernon Martin; five sisters, Dorothy Grimmett, Myrtle Smith, Leatha Bowles, Edith Williams, and Ethel Martin.
Mildred is survived by three sons, David Adkins at home, Curtis Adkins and Wife RandySue of Tug Creek, and Daniel Adkins and Wife Linda of Princeton; three grandsons, Marvin Adkins and Michael Adkins of Akron, OH, and James Adkins; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the Hinton Gospel Tabernacle with Pastor Terry Weatherly officiating. Burial will follow in the Breen Cemetery at Tug Creek. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Monday. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
