Mildred Lois Richmond

Mildred Lois Richmond, 84, of Ballengee went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Bowers Hospice House following a long illness.

Born January 28, 1941 in Marie she was a daughter of the late James Nathan and Glendora Clyde Jones.

Mildred was a Sunday school teacher at Spruce Run Chapel and a Reading tutor for the Summers County Board of Education. She was a homemaker, a loving mother, and mawmaw. Mildred was known in her community for being a caregiver for many, a wonderful cook, and seamstress. She loved reading her Bible and spending time with her family. After Jim’s retirement they were avid campers, especially on the New River.

Mildred was preceded in death by two sons, Larry Richmond and wife Gina, and Lewis Richmond and wife Kathy.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 67 years, James L. “Jim” Richmond; one daughter, Susan Steitz and husband David of FL; two sons, Greg Richmond of Ballengee and Justin Richmond of Ballengee; grandchildren, Tera Stanley and daughter Jessie, Danielle Richmond Lusk and husband Chris, Kristen Richmond, Lakin Richmond, Gabriel Richmond, Penelope Richmond and James Justin Richmond and siblings, Marvin Jones of Marie, Glenna Cook of Marie, Nina Roach of Forest Hill and Maxine McLoughlin of OH.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 15, 2025 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Rev. Ben M. Peyton officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:30 A.M. until time of services on Saturday at the funeral parlors. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Hospice of Southern West Virginia, especially Lisa Woods, Jessica Brogan, Connie Smith and Ruth; and Danielle Richmond Lusk for all the love and care she provided.
