Morris Wayne “Buster” Farley, aged 70, of Lake Gaston, North Carolina, passed away on July 16, 2024. Born February 8, 1954, in Hinton, WV, to Otho and Ethel Williams Farley.
Wayne was preceded in death by his two sisters, Linda Buckland and Mary Marshall, and seven brothers: Raymond, Norman, Stanley, Eugene, Robert, Joe, and Clifford.
Those left to cherish his memory include his devoted wife, Tammy Farley, and his beloved stepchildren Ginger Kenney, Ellis Scales, and Jessica Scales, who regarded him as a father. He is also survived by his two daughters, Melissa Willcox and Angela Goacher, as well as his two sisters, Martha Bennett and Margaret Ryan.
Wayne was a beloved member of his family. He eagerly anticipated family gatherings, particularly the fish fry hosted by Junie and Romana, where he enjoyed his nephew’s, Ricky's incredible firework show, the Farley Family Reunion, and the Hobbs Road Chicken Muddle.
Wayne’s childhood passion for aviation ignited during his employment at Kroger in Roanoke, VA, eventually leading him to dedicate 25 years to American Eagle, retiring as a Captain. His career as a pilot was just one facet of his diverse talents. Instead of resting and relaxing during his retirement years, he continued to work and live life to the fullest. Known for his extensive knowledge and skills, he was a jack-of-all-trades, having built his lake house and pontoon boat by hand. He had a passion for singing and playing the guitar, he was most recently learning Toby Keith's "Don't Let the Old Man In." His adventures took him hunting in Wyoming with his best friend Larry Latshaw and traveling across the country on his trusty Goldwing to destinations like Yellowstone, Tombstone, Mount St. Helens, the Grand Canyon, and Niagara Falls. His adventurous spirit was evident in his love for road trips on his motorcycle, embodying his zest for life.
He took his last breath as he rode off into the sunset on his motorcycle, a fitting end for a man of such spirit and vitality.
After traveling, Wayne devoted himself to building a beautiful home for his beloved wife on the land she grew up on, creating their dream home together. He will be missed by his two incredible dogs, Lucie Lou and Onna Leigh, and a cat named Kitty Dog, as well as George the guinea.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Monday, July 22, 2024, at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Edward Dolphin officiating. Burial will follow in the Farley Family Cemetery on Madams Creek. Visitation will take place from 11 AM to 1 PM on Monday preceding the service.
