Murvel L. ?Jack? Lilly, age 71, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at the Summers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, at Hilldale, due to a long illness.
Born September 23, 1940, at Summers County, he was a son of the late Ernest L. Lilly and Virgie M. Cook Lilly.
Mr. Lilly attended Hinton High School, served with the US Army and was a member of the Metropolitan Police Dept. in Washington, D.C. He worked diligently to secure water for the Nimitz and Jumping Branch areas of Summers County and was very thankful when that dream became a reality.
Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of fifty years, Dorothy Wright Lilly and two sisters, Nancy Lilly Bartin and Wanda Lilly Gill.
Those left to cherish his memory include three sons, Michael and his wife Kay of Nimitz, Gary and his wife Penelope of Germantown, MD and Tony and his wife Kim of Nimitz; one daughter, Laura Lilly Cochran of Nimitz; four grandchildren, Adam, Brandon and Tyler Lilly and Erin Cochran; one brother, Larry Lilly and his wife Donna of Martinsburg, WV; two sisters, Juanita Pack and her husband Norman of Huntington, MD and Geraldine Hill of Mexico and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM Sunday, February 26, 2012 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Bill Ballengee officiating. Burial will follow in the Lilly-Crews Cemetery, at Nimitz. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 1:00PM until time of services Sunday.
Serving as pallbearers will be Thomas Ratcliffe, Barry Boyd, Norman Pack and his three grandsons, Adam, Brandon and Tyler Lilly.
