Naomi Deaver

Naomi H. Deaver, 85, of Pipestem went to be with her Lord and Savior at her home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 following a long illness. Born on February 12, 1923 in Hinton, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Edna Mae Lilly Gill. She lived all her life in the Summers County area. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her garden, her flowers and her family, dotting especially on her grandchildren. A member of Maranatha Baptist Church in Princeton and the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 40 years, Howard H. Deaver; an infant son, Howard Steven Deaver; two sisters, Erma Meadows and Gladys Plumley; three brothers, Dewey, Daniel and Alfred Gill and a son-in-law H.L. â??Sonnyâ?? Pate. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Dr. James H. Deaver of Clarkrange, TN; her daughters, Patricia Taylor of Hinton, Virginia â??Gingerâ?? Pate of Pipestem with whom she made her home and Barbara Shaffer of Pipestem; ten grandchildren, H. Steven Sears and wife Daphne of Bluefield, VA, Susan Powell Lane of Pipestem, Regina Richardson and husband Robert of Alderson, Jim Shaffer and wife Debbie of Mechanicsville, VA, Cindy Adkins and husband Timmy of Hinton, Robert Shaffer and wife QuaDonna of Bluefield, Rebecca Wright and husband Bill of King William, VA, Sarah Helton and husband Mike of Blueridge, VA, Ronald Taylor Sr. of Hinton and Michelle Gibson and husband Claude of King George, VA; her great grandchildren, Rebecca, Kevin and Frankie Kennedy of Mechanicsville, VA, David Michael Patrick of Pipestem, Virginia Ginny Henderson and husband Joshua of Pipestem, Victoria â??Toriâ?? Powell of Pipestem, Robert Richardson Jr. of Hinton, Bradley and Tiffany Richardson of Alderson, Cassandra Adkins of Hinton, Timmy and Nicolas Adkins of Hinton, Ronald Taylor Jr. and Angela Taylor both of Hinton, Michael and Jonathan Helton of Blueridge, VA, Jim Shaffer Jr. of Richmond, VA, Joshua Shaffer of Mechanicsville, VA, Victoria Bowden of Bluefield, Jarred, Ian and Cyann Shaffer of Bluefield, Mark Wright of King William, VA, Courtney Bryant of Bluefield, Kari Bryant of Bluefield, Natalie Oglesby of Bluefield, David Bryant of Covington, VA and Hanna and Sarah Gibson of King George, VA; her great-great grandchildren, Hallie Rose Kennedy of Mechanicsville, VA, Joshua Owen Michael Henderson of Pipestem, Jadeyn Fox of Hinton, Brandon Bowden of Bluefield and Olivia Grace Bryant of Bluefield; and several nieces and nephews. She touched so many lives during her life and will be sadly missed by those who know and loved her. Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 15, 2008 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Wallace Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Hilltop Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. on Friday at the Funeral Parlors. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
