Naomi Florence Pitzer, 83, formerly of Hinton, WV went to be with the Lord, October 29, 2010 after an extended illness at the home of her daughter in Mountain City, TN.
Born December 28, 1926 in Greenbrier Co. she was the daughter of the late Burman and Mozella Faye Buckland Sears. Florence retired after 32 years of service with Hi-Flavor Meats in Tuskowillow, FL to take care of her daughter Leona who had suffered a stroke, a member of the Mountain City Church of God and a licensed Minister with the Pilgrims of Faith of FL. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Pitzer; stepmother, Clara Richmond Sears; beloved daughter-in-law, Rita Kay Sears; sisters, Pauline Bennett, Winnie Burdett, Lillian Gill and Margaret Bragg; brothers, Russell and Hershel Sears and an infant brother, Charlie Sears; her best friends, Ione Luna and Ellen Simmons; several step-sisters, step-brothers, nieces and nephews.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Bobby Sears and Fred Pitzer both of FL; her daughter, Leona Pitzer Cox and husband Rev. Donnie Cox of Mountain City, TN; nine grandchildren, Danny and Steven Sears of FL, Randall Foster of TX, Jammie Pitzer and Erica Cogbourn of FL, John and Billy Cox, Donnitta Dunlap and Verronica Pelkey of TN; nine great grandchildren, Jessica Sears, Taylor, Tyler and Trevor Cogbourn, McKenzie Pitzer, Joshua and Landon Cox, Jeffrey Dunlap and Emily Pelkey; sister, Imogene Richmond and several nieces, nephews and brother and sister-in-laws.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. Monday, November 1, 2010 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the Upland Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Monday.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
