Norman Via

March 21, 1930 — June 8, 2014

Norman A. Via, 84, of Beckley was united with his Lord and Savior and reunited with his loved ones and friends on Sunday, June 8, 2014.
Born in Summers County, March 21, 1930, he was one of six children born to Avery C. and Bertha Williams Via.
Norman was a member of Maxwell Hill Baptist Church in Beckley. Retiring from Firestone, he moved back to West Virginia, the state he loved, to spend the remaining days of his life. In later years, his Saturday outings with his brother were the highlight of his week. He loved spending time with his "special" sister and several of his nieces.
Norman loved his country and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was an amazing man, good husband, great father and wonderful grandfather and made such an impact on everyone that came in contact with him.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Edna Avelene Meadows Via, in 2004; two brothers, Howard L. Via and Donald J. Via and a sister, Eloise Via Richmond.
Those left to cherish his memories include daughter, Deborah Wright and husband Jim of Lewisberry, PA; one grandson, Jamie Wright and wife Nichole; two great grandchildren, Aiden James Wright and Addison Larene Wright; two sisters, Mary Via Cole of Shady Spring and Norma Via Bennett and husband Robert of Alderson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Sonny Angell officiating. Burial will follow in the Restwood Memorial Gardens near Hinton. Friends may call from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral parlors.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
