Opal Cales

Opal Marie Cales, 83, of New River Road, Hinton went home to be with the Lord Monday, July 09, 2012 in the Summers Nursing and Rehab Center following a long illness.

Born August 30, 1928 at Raleigh County she was the daughter of the late Henry Clyde and Ada Richmond Gwinn. A lifelong resident of Summers Co. she was a member of the Church of Christ at Piney View, a retired Nurse Aide at the Summers Nursing and Rehab Center who enjoyed walking and spending time with her family and friends.

Preceded in death by one son, Michael Allen Cales; one brother, Carroll Gwinn and one sister, Vella Gwinn Hicks.

Those left to cherish her memory include one daughter, Debbie Conner and husband Bob of Hinton; three sons, Gary Dean Cales and wife Nancy of Florida, Keith Cales and companion Sarah Wadsworth of Barksdale and Phillip V. Cales and wife Pamela of Sandstone; eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, three brothers, Russell Gwinn and wife Ina of Marie, Harold Gwinn and wife Ruby of Bellepoint and Darrell Gwinn and wife Betty of Jumping Branch and two sisters, Alice Redden of Beaver and Blanche Adkins and husband Kenneth of Salem, VA.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 12, 2012 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Kenneth Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Fitzpatrick Cemetery at Sandstone. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral parlors.

Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
