Opal Ward

Opal Marie Ward, 82, of Hix, died Monday, August 6, 2012 at the Princeton Community Hospital following a long illness.

Born August 26, 1929 at Longbottom, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Zeda Mae Hogan Adkins. Mrs. Ward was a homemaker and a member of the Chestnut Mt. Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death, were her husband Miles Lee Ward, one sister Ollie Simmons and one brother Homer Adkins.

Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Edith Bennett of Judson, Nancy Kesner and husband Delwood of Hix and Charlotte Morison and husband Joe of Hix; three sons, Lester (Ray) Ward of Sandstone Ronald Ward and Companion Midge Stowers and their daughter Kayla of Hix, and Rick Ward of Maryville, Tennessee; one brother, Underwood (Bud) Adkins of Quinwood; five grandchildren, David, Cristy, Timmy, Stacy, and Heather, eleven great grandchildren and her friend and caregiver Debbie Ward.

Graveside services and burial were held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Ward Family Cemetery at Hix with Pastor Pete Cook officiating. Pallbearers will be Larry, Gary, Grady and Kert Ward, Greg and George Stowers.
