Owen Gilbert Grimmett, 84, of Judson loved to trade and he tried out a helicopter to CAMC Memorial. On October 15, 2010 he decided to trade his old body for a new one with a pair of wings for his new home in glory that was paid for years ago by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Born July 3, 1926 at Layton, WV he was the son of the late Raymond C. and Flora Richmond Grimmett. He was an active member serving as a trustee, of the Elk Knob Missionary Baptist Church, a World War II United States Army Veteran having served his country in the Philippines, retired from the CSX Railway as a conductor after 28 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman, expert farmer, gardener, and car enthusiast.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Wayne Grimmett.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 58 years, Myrtle Ellen Lusk Grimmett at home, one son, Douglas O. Grimmett and wife Melanie of Judson; one granddaughter, Heather Graham of Lewisburg; three siblings, Alma Reed of Talcott, Oral ?Sonny? Grimmett and wife Maple of Judson and Leona Ramsey and husband Jack of Fort Springs and numerous special nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and neighbors.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 18, 2010 at the Elk Knob Missionary Baptist Church with Pastors Andy Howdock and Tony Hawks officiating. Burial will follow in the Elk Knob Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel and at the church one hour prior to service time.
Nephews and Great Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
