Paul E. Crook, 70, of Nimitz formerly of Hinton went home to be with the Lord Wednesday November 26, 2014 at Princeton Community Hospital following a short illness.
Born March 30, 1944 at Bellepoint he was the son of the late Hobart Jackson and Dorothy Ernestine Moss Crook. A Veteran of the United States Army serving his country in Germany from 1967-1969 and he continued to serve his country with the West Virginia National Guard until his retirement in 1993 where he obtained the rank of Sgt. First Class. A member of Beckley Local 1911 Carpenter's Union, facilities manager for the Hinton National Guard Armory, former employee of Meadows Furniture Co., he enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, car shows, wood working master craftsman and spending time with his family and friends.
Preceded in death by one daughter, Cindy Lou Crook and two brothers, Ernest Jackson Crook and John Walter Crook.
Survived by his wife of 48 years, Phyllis Crook of Nimitz; one daughter, Paula Thewes and husband Jack of Alum Creek; one son, Timothy W. Crook of Hinton; two grandchildren, Paige Susan and Trevor both of Alum Creek; four brothers, Samuel H. Crook of Jumping Branch, Kenneth L. Crook of Hinton, Roy Crook of Nimitz and Dallas Crook of Forest Hill; seven sisters, Ruth Smith of Hinton, Ernestine Bremer of Hinton, Janice Shrader of Hinton, Brenda Trent of Stark, Florida, Mary Wright of Lake Butler, Florida, Linda Ratliff of Madams Creek and Edith Cook of Ballengee.
Memorial Services will be held 6:00 pm Saturday November 29, 2014 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Clyde Gwinn officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 pm until service time on Saturday at the funeral parlors.
Special thanks to the family, friends and caregivers that stood by Paul and Phyllis during his illness.
