Pauline F. Garten, 85, of Marie, departed this life on August 2, 2006 at her home, following a short illness. Born January 5, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Okie and Myrtle Comer Foster. She had lived many years at Marie. During her lifetime she had been a homemaker, had shod horses, had plowed with a team of horses, delivered produce and had always been eager to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She was a Baptist. Preceded in death by her husband, Dorse A. Garten in 1962 and her companion, Henry Rorrer in 1988. Pauline is survived by three daughters; Polly Sizemore of Marie, Carolyn Dixon of Fairlea and Mary Meadows and husband Fred of Camp Lightfoot Road at Hilldale, one son, Dorsey Garten and Companion Brenda of Marie, three granddaughters; Sue Meadows and husband Jessie, Mary Jane Grigiel and husband Adam and Gracie Shockley and husband Sonny, four grandsons; Gary Meadows, Jimmy Davis and wife Valerie, Kenny Davis and Jeremy Garten, seven great grandchildren, an Aunt, Lucille Bennett of Talcott an a Cousin, Billy Joe Comer of Hinton. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Joe Spencer and Rev. Roger Brammer officiating. Burial will follow in the Orchard Cemetery at Ballard. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 6-8 P.M. Friday. Pallbearers: Buddy Light, Doc Humphries, Eric Shamblin, Roy Cooper, Harold Holland, Danny Michaels, Terry Crawford and Tommy Rorrer.
