Philip Gary ?Spanky? Lipscomb, 77, of New River Road, Hinton entered into eternal rest, Tuesday December 25, 2012 at his home following a long illness.
Born September 15, 1935 at Hinton he was a son of the late Eugene L. ?Shady? and Sadie M. Davis Lipscomb.
Spanky was a lifelong resident of Hinton and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was retired from CSX after working as a clerk for 28 years.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Elaine Richardson Lipscomb and one step son, Ty Wayne Deeds.
Survived by his devoted and loving wife of 32 years, Zonita J. Lilly Lipscomb at home; one son, Gary Steve Lipscomb and wife Ann of Hinton; one daughter, Michele Lipscomb Patrick and husband Gary of Siler City; three grandchildren, Jonathan and Kristina Lipscomb of Hinton, Michael Patrick of Siler City; two step daughters, Rogena Deeds Davidson and husband Randy of Athens, GA, Teresa Deeds Spicer of Bellepoint; five step granddaughters and eight step great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 28, 2012 at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the Restwood Memorial Gardens at Madams Creek, Hinton. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from noon until time of services on Friday.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
