Phyllis G. Bowling, 70 of, Hinton passed away, Tuesday June 9, 2009 at her home following a long illness. Born February 28, 1939 at Hinton, the youngest of 8 children she was the daughter of the late Joseph G. and Ada Mae Bennett Bragg. A hardworking nurse of 30 years she began her career at Hinton Hospital and was a former charge nurse at Pinecrest Nursing Home. Phyllis cared for and was instrumental in changing legislation protecting geriatric patient rights in the healthcare system. Loved her family with all her heart and part of that love was shown to her granddaughter whom she enjoyed spending time with. An avid gardener who enjoyed planting and caring for her garden until the very end, a political minded person who loved all her pets and her God. She will be deeply missed forever by all her friends and family. Besides her parents preceded in death by four sisters, Faye, Lorene, Della and Leona; one brother, Elbert and a special friend, Geneva Bragg. Survived by her husband of 27 years, William G. Bowling of Hinton; one daughter, Emily Perry Reed and her husband J.P. Reed Jr. of Hinton; one granddaughter, Albany Reed age 16, the very light of her life; one sister, Hettie Graham of Woodbridge, VA; one brother, Basil Bragg of Hinton, special friends, Helen Adkins, Robert Ballard and Pamela, Ina Durham and Wanda Lively. In accordance with her wishes private services were held Thursday morning at Hilltop cemetery in Hinton with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating.In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the following organizations, Klaaskids Foundation, P.O.
