Plummer H. Ward, 83, of Sandstone, died at 12:30AM Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at the Summers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, at Hilldale, following a long illness.
Born January 29, 1929, at Hix, he was a son of the late Wilbur H. and Vada Susan Graham Ward.
Plummer was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of Summers County. He enjoyed spending his time gardening and had retired from Wilson Tree Company.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Jerry Ward and six sisters, Annie Reed, Martha Meadows, Oma Gill, Lilly Todd, Gertha Gill and Donnie Meadows.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Wanda M. Ward; one daughter, Deloris Adkins of Sandstone; one grandson, Dale H. Basham of Sandstone; one brother, James Ward and wife Mildred of Covington, VA and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Friday, April 20, 2012 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Benny Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Cales Cemetery at Chestnut Mtn. Friends may call from 6:00PM to 8:30PM on Thursday at the funeral parlors.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
