Ralph Chester Cochran, 73, of Princeton passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family following a long illness.
Born December 13, 1939 at Warford in Summers Co. where he lived the early part of his life he was the son of the late John Albert Cochran and Effie Lee Forren Cochran Cox and his step-father, Earl Cox who reared him.
He had lived most of his life in Ohio and Iowa and retired to this area 12 years ago. A nine year member of the WV National Guard where he was called into active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis, retired machinist for CSX and Burlington Northern Railroads, a member of the Association of International Machinists and the New Hope Church of the Nazarene at Hinton. He was a devoted family man, avid fisherman, hunter and gardener.
Preceded in death by one brother, James Cochran.
Survived by his wife of 52 years, Janet Hall Cochran; four children, Ralph Cochran and wife Patty of Big Creek, Greg Cochran and fiancé Stephanie of Clarksburg, Lisa Diane Marshall and husband Dan of Toledo, OH and Kevin Michael Cochran and wife Rebecca of Princeton; one sister, Kay Talbott of Talcott; adopted daughter, Michelle Artripe of Toledo, OH; one sister-in-law, Nancy Cochran of Big Creek; eleven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at the New Hope Church of the Nazarene 1301 Summers Street in Hinton with Pastor Eddie Crews officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery on Powley?s Creek. Friends may call from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at the Church and one hour prior to services on Wednesday.
Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
