Raymond L. Burnett, 87, of Meadow Bridge went home to be with the Lord, Thursday November 28, 2013 at the Raleigh Center in Daniels following a long illness.
Born September 20, 1926 at Lanton, WV he was a son of the late Frank P. and Matilda A. Harmon Burnett. A member of the Meadow Bridge Missionary Baptist Church where he enjoyed attending Sunday School and Church as long as his health permitted, Veteran of the United States Navy he served his country in the pacific during the pearl harbor invasion. Raymond retired from Union Carbide after 35 years of service.
Preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Grimmett Burnett; two sisters, Doris Ann Burnett and Garnett S. Holliday and three brothers, Ray, Roy and Ralph Burnett.
Those left to cherish his memory include one sister, Eula Vire Tread of Virginia; one brother, Robert F. Burnett and wife Peggy of Hilltop; one stepson, David Olen Grimmett of Virginia; one sister-in-law, Peggy Burnett of Meadow Bridge, several step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Monday, December 2, 2013 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Mike Whisman officiating. Burial will follow in the Restwood Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from Noon until time of services on Monday.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
