Robert D. Angell Jr., 73, of Jumping Branch, WV went home to be with the Lord Friday, March 19, 2021 at Charleston Area Medical Center General Division following a sudden illness.
Born October 19, 1947 in Hinton, WV he was a son of the late Robert “Dewey” Angell Sr. and Cecile Smith Angell.
Robert was a member of the Nimitz Missionary Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having volunteered to serve our country during the Vietnam Era in Korea and Germany. Robert was a retired U.S. Postal Service employee with 34 years of service. He took pride in representing his community as a member of both the Summers County Board of Education and the Summers County Fire Board. Robert enjoyed farming, gardening and spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and faithful wife of 54 years, Janey Angell at home; one daughter, Neta Ann Angell Greenlief and husband Travis and their sons, Hayden Alexander and Harrison Davis of Wilmington, NC; one son, Gregory Robert Angell Sr. and wife Eva Kokoski Angell and their children, Gregory Robert Jr., Nathan Joseph, Emma Elizabeth and Noah Scott of Jumping Branch and four siblings, Carlos Angell, Tess Angell, Eva “Cricket” Richmond and Herbert “Sonny” Boland.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastors Don Hannah and Nathan Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz. Friends may call from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral parlors. For the safety of the family and the community precautionary guidelines will be followed.
Pallbearers: Mark Meador, Lloyd Jones, Tracy Grimmett, Frankie Bennett, Jeff Collins and Jack Tate. Honorary pallbearers: Grady Ward, Jim Pate and Charlie Saunders.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations of sympathy be made to Summers FFA at Summers County High School, 37 Bobcat Drive, Hinton, WV 25951.
