Robert D. Bennett, 84, of Madams Creek, Hinton passed away Saturday September 18, 2021 at Raleigh General Hospital following a massive heart attack.
Born June 11, 1937 at Hinton he was the son of the late Abraham “Abe” and Mary Goldie Breen Bennett. Robert retired from the Ford Motor Company in Ohio and he enjoyed reading, outdoors, and spending time with his family and friends.
Preceded in death by three daughters, Roberta Gross, Tracy Sawyer and Cathy Plumley; one great great grandchild, Aiden Jackson; four brothers, Joe, Lloyd, and Andy Bennett and infant brother, Ronald and three sisters, Lola Ratliff and twin sisters, Mary Bragg and Thelma Martin.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 46 years, Juanita “Sissy” Bennett of Madams Creek; six children, Robert and Vivian Bennett of Ballard, Karen Richmond of Chestnut Mountain, Glenna Cook Dick of Hix, Vickie Adkins and Rich Vance of Strasburg, OH, Jennifer Bennett of Hinton and Wayne and Virginia Bennett of Hinton; twenty-four grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and two great grandchildren on the way; first wife and friend, Mamie Adkins of Hix; two brothers, Donald Bennett of Hinton and Arnold Bennett of Florida; one sister, Virginia Harrah of Hinton and numerous brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services and burial will be held 11:00 am Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Restwood Memorial Gardens with Pastor Terry Weatherly officiating. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:30 am until service time.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
