Robert W. Holland, 92, of Sandstone went home to be with the Lord, Sunday February 3, 2008 at the Summers Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility following a long illness. Born August 2, 1915 at Green Sulphur Springs he was a son of the late Robert H. and Ledonia Surbaugh Holland. A lifelong resident of Summers County who was employed by the Summers County Board of Education as a Bus Driver till he retired, an avid hunter and farmer who thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and a member of the Sandstone Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his first wife, Grace Holland on May 30, 1990, two grandchildren Ivan Gill Jr. in 1999 and Larry Gill Jr. in 2007; two brothers, Lunsford and Clifford Holland; and three sisters, Cleitus Caldwell, Creola Ogden and Cleo Ripley. Survived by his wife of 17 years, Zelpha â??Jessieâ?? Rader Holland of Sandstone; three daughters, Shirley Sampson of Sandstone, Patricia Ralbusky and husband Roger of Ravena, OH and Dinah Palmer and husband Glen of Meadow Creek; four sons, Weldon Gill and companion Sherrie of Rupert, Larry Gill and wife Sharron of Nimitz, Ivan Gill and wife Ruby of Hinton and Steve Gill of Nimitz; twenty-one grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren and a special neighbor whom he loved as a son, Hayward Cales of Sandstone. Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Andy Sampson and Pastor Elwood Cales officiating. Burial will follow in the Halliden Cemetery at Green Sulphur Springs. Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. on Monday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors. Elva Ayers Jr., Hayward Cales, Harold Holland, Eugene Holland, Ivan Gill and Steve Gill will serve as pallbearers.
