Robert J. ?Bob? Russell, age 86, of 1302 Taylor St. Hinton, WV, formerly of St. Albans, died Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 5:10P.M. at the St Francis Hospital in Charleston following a short illness.
Born September 11, 1925 at Kanawha County, he was the son of the late Hobert H. and Rosie M. Dixon Russell of St. Albans. He served his country proudly as a master sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II, the Korean War and two terms of duty in Vietnam. He was awarded many medals during his years of service including the ?Purple Heart?.
Robert was a certified electrician and worked for the Brown and Root Company, retiring after 20 years of service and continued his electrical work in Houston, Texas for the next 10 years.
He was preceded in death by twelve brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Ruth Graham Russell of Hinton, two brothers, one sister and one special nephew, David Russell and wife Joette of Poca, WV.
Following his wishes his body has been donated to the Human Gift Registry at West Virginia University.
A memorial service for the family will be held 2:00P.M. Monday, September 26, 2011 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Dana Stalnaker officiating. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 1:00P.M. Monday until time of services.
