Robert "Clinton" Ratliff, 77, of Jumping Branch, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital following a short illness.
Born August 24, 1934 at Leatherwood, he was a son of the late Charles Sr. and Jenny Harvey Ratliff.
For the last 40 years he had lived in Jumping Branch. Clinton was employed as a conductor and brakeman by C&O Railroad and then later on by CSX for a total of 48 years. He retired in 1996.
Earlier in his life he loved to coon hunt and spend time fishing. He was a member of Bluestone Baptist Church in Jumping Branch and was a faithful member while his health permitted.
He was preceded in death by his parents; all of his brothers, Leslie, Basil, Paul "Buck", and Charles Ratliff Jr. and his late wife, Eula Basham Ratliff, who passed away in 2005.
He is survived by three daughters, Nancy C. Toms and husband Jim of Great Fall, Montana, Linda S. White and husband Bob of Shady Spring, Ruby F. Monfee of Great Fall, Montana; five grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Stephanie, Kim and Chris, and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, October 24, 2011 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Bill Fox officiating. Burial will follow at Lilly-Crews Cemetery in Nimitz. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 10AM until time of services.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
