Roger Kenton Lilly, Sr. 72, of Chesapeake, VA claimed the promise of the resurrection on Thursday, November 18, 2010 following a long illness.
Born May 14, 1938 in Charleston West Virginia, he was the son of the late Ralph and Leeda Harper Lilly. A former United States Marine Corps veteran, Mr. Lilly was a retired Lieutenant Colonel with the Army National Guard, and he retired after many years of service with Newport News Shipbuilding.
Roger was preceded in death by a grandson, Roger K. Lilly, III.
He is survived by three sons, Roger ?Kent? Lilly Jr. and wife Karen Bowman, Alan Lilly and Chris Lilly and wife Laura; the sons? mother, Beverly A. Lilly; two brothers, Ivan and David Lilly; one sister, Janice Paige of Hattiesburg, MS; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren and his companion, Edith Marslender and her son, Jeff.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 21, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlor Chapel with Pastor Rick Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in the Restwood Memorial Gardens near Hinton. Friends may call from 12 noon till time of service on Sunday. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In recognition of Lieutenant Colonel Lilly?s service to his country, full military funeral honors will be provided by the West Virginia Army National Guard.
