Roger W. Pack of Jumping Branch passed away Sunday May 22, 2011 at the Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill WV following an apparent heart attack. Born October 28, 1949 in Ansted, WV he is the son of Jim Bob Pack of Ansted and the late Ina Mae Pack.
Roger spent his boyhood in Ansted but the majority of his adult life was spent in Summers County. Retiring from CSX Railway with 43 years of service Roger was a Decorated Army Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict earning the National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation, Expert M16, Bronze Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Service Medal with Oakleaf Cluster and the Vietnam Campaign Medal w/Dev 60. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, fishing, hunting and working on his 1964 Ford Falcon as well as playing cards with the "Deacons", he was an amateur radio specialist.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years Linda Adkins Pack of Jumping Branch; two children, Tony Pack of Warner Robins, GA and Trisha Hess and husband David of Charleston WV; four grandchildren, Sierra, Gunner, Chase and Haley Jo whom he loved and will miss him dearly; two brothers, Jerry Pack of Ansted and Bobby Pack and wife Sheila of Oak Hill; one sister, Janet Syner and husband Carl of Hico, and many nieces and nephews whom thought the world of him.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday May 25, 2011 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlor Chapel with Elder Tommy Pack officiating. Burial will follow in the Lilly - Crews Cemetery at Nimitz. Friends may call at the funeral parlor from 6 P.M. to 9 P.M. on Tuesday.
