Roger Phillips

Roger Phillips, 66, of Browns Ridge Rd., Lerona, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, January 09, 2012, at the VA Medical Center in Beckley following a long illness.
Born January 21, 1945 at Princeton, he was a son of the late Basil and Bernice Keaton Phillips.
Roger was a disabled coal miner, road construction worker and sawmill operator. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran who received several medals during his honorable time of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and restoring old farm tractors.
Preceded in death by four brothers, Thomas Lee, Oran, Benny and Larry Phillips and one sister, Henrietta Phillips.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 46 years, Melda Phillips, at home; two sons, Timothy Phillips and wife Angie of Oceana and Mark Phillips and wife Jennifer of Pipestem; two grandchildren, Timmy and Angela; one step-granddaughter, Debbie; two sisters, Sharon of Princeton and Elizabeth (Libby) Rainear and husband Albert ?Sonny? of Bridgeton, NJ; one sister-in-law, Beverly Phillips of Lerona; special uncle, Bobby Keaton of Bluefield and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Thursday, January 12, 2012 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Preacher Richard Hodges officiating. Burial will follow in the Farley Family Cemetery at Pipestem. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 10:00AM until time of services Thursday.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
