Ronald Clayton Crook ,73, of Lewisburg, formerly of Hinton went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday February 28, 2012 at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center following a short battle with cancer.
Born January 11, 1939 at Jumping Branch, he was the son of the late Phillip Alexander and Ethel Kesler Crook.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 29 years Arlene Crawford Crook.
Ronnie is survived by his two daughters; Rhonda Grimmett and husband Tracy of Hinton and Connie Zimmerman and husband Mark of Ronceverte; three grandsons, Thomas, Nathan, and Jeremy Grimmett; two granddaughters, Kirstein Arnold of Morgantown and Jessica Zimmerman of Ronceverte; one sister, Shelby Kimble and husband Mason of Warrenton, VA and three nephews also survive.
Ronald attended Griffith Creek Baptist Church as long as his health permitted.
He received a medical discharge from the U. S. Navy in 1962. Ronnie took great pride in his children and grandchildren, as he devoted much of his retired life to them. Driving trucks was his passion. He drove for forty four and a half years, hauling rockdust, gravel, mine posts, and coal. During his driving career he worked for Abshire Trucking, Harden Trucking, Cook Trucking, E. L. Hampton Trucking, and lastly he retired from Rex Hampton Trucking. He drove mostly tandems, but also eighteen wheelers.
Funeral Services will be at 1 P.M. on Friday March 2, 2012 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Audie Sorg officiating. Burial will follow in the Crook-Deeds Family Cemetery at Jumping Branch. Friends may call at the Funeral Parlors from 6-9 P.M. on Thursday.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
