Roy ?Arkie? Hocum, 74, of Ramp, died at 1:20 PM, Thursday, February 7, 2013, following a long illness.
Born November 5, 1938 at Ramp, he was the son of the late Edgar and Virginia Bowles Hocum. He had lived most of his life at Ramp and had lived and worked in Northberg, NJ for Owens Illinois Glass.
Roy was a member of the Ramp Holiness Church and the Sandstone Volunteer Fire Department Auxillary. He was a graduate of East Bank High School and loved squirrel hunting, WVU football and riding his four wheeler. Family was very important to him and he was especially close to his sister Edna.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Thompson Hocum in 1965 and one brother, Bob Hocum in 2008.
Those left to cherish his memory include one sister, Edna Harless and husband Dolphus of Ramp; one brother, Travis Hocum and wife Janet of Hinton and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Sunday, February 10, 2013 at the Ramp Holiness Church with Pastor Felix Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the O?Bryan Cemetery at Hix. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
