Ruby McNeer

Ruby Glenna Shanklin McNeer, 82, of Forest Hill-Greenville Road, died Sunday, October 16, 2005 at her home after a long illness. Born December 22, 1922, she was the only child of the late George Otis and Hattie Mae Boggs Shanklin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billie M. McNeer, and one grandson, Alexander Weaver. A graduate of Greenville High School class of 1940, Mrs. McNeer lived her entire life in Monroe County. She was a homemaker, attended the New Hope United Methodist Church, was a member of the Hans Creek CEOS and the Peterstown Valley Chapter of AARP, and served on the Board of Directors for the Monroe County Council of Aging. Survivors include her four children, Melvin McNeer of Knoxville, TN; Janet Weaver of Raleigh, NC; Donna Jackson of Peterstown; and Steven McNeer of Greenville; nine grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at the New Hope United Methodist Church with Pastor Sam Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-7 P.M. on Tuesday at the Church. Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Johnston, Travis and Adam Jackson, Roger Johnson, John Butler, and Don Belcher.

Funeral Information: 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the New Hope United Methodist Church.
