Russell Bennett, 66, of Meadow Creek entered into eternal rest Friday, August 28, 2015 at his home following a sudden illness.
Born August 1, 1949 at Camp Branch he was a son of the late Nelson and Ruby Durrett Bennett.
Russell was a 51 year resident of Meadow Creek. He was a farmer and a handyman who lived a simple life. He enjoyed gardening, flowers, woodworking and loved his beloved dog.
Russell was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Stanley Bennett; three sisters, Pauline Smith, Corrine Richmond and Margaret Saunders.
Those left to cherish his memory include three sisters, Drema Harrah of Franklin Park, IL, Juanita Phillips and Phyllis Clevenger both of Chicago, IL; three brothers, Nelson Bennett and wife Lorrina of Green Sulphur Springs, Roy Bennett of Chicago, IL and Odell Bennett and wife Carol of Meadow Creek; sisters in law, Louise Bennett and Violet Bennett; brother in law, Delbert Saunders; his beloved guard dog, "Girl" and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Bob Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in the Restwood Memorial Gardens near Hinton. Friends may call from 1:00 P.M. until time of services Tuesday at the funeral parlors.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
