Russell E. Cox, 77, of Glen Morgan passed away Monday, March 25, 2013 at Raleigh General Hospital following a long illness. On Sunday, March 24, 2013 he had given his heart to the Lord.
Born October 19, 1935 at Dunns he was a son of the late Columbus E. and Sylvia Moye Cox.
Russell lived in Pennsylvania for several years working as a self employed welder and after retiring, moved back to West Virginia. He loved car racing, Nascar as well as dirt track. His nephews, Joey Cox and Ricky Williams raced and Russell would always call them on Sunday night asking how they did at the track.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Leslie and Clinton Cox; two sisters, Patsy Lowe and Jessie Mae Krumholz; two brother-in-laws, John Lowe and Karl Krumholz and a nephew, Michael Scarbrough.
Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, Jeffrey Cox and wife Mary of Bally, PA and Justin Cox of Norristown, PA; one granddaughter, Rebekah Cox of Bally, PA; one great granddaughter, Jayden Cox of Bally, PA; one brother, Joseph Cox and wife Katie of Stanaford; two sisters, MaryAnn Milam and husband Donald of Alderson and Betty Scarbrough and husband Chick of Shady Springs; former wife and friend, Elaine Cox of Norristown, PA; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Darrell Keaton, Ann Toney, Steve Scotty, Michael O?Rourcke and his caretaker, Rachel.
The family would like to send special thanks to Russell?s nurses on the 4th floor at Raleigh General Hospital.
Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Skee Barley and Roger Smallwood officiating. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until time of services on Thursday. At Russell?s request his body will be cremated following the services. In lieu of flowers donations of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society.
