Russell Junior "Shorty" Bennett, 54, of Hinton, passed away on March 12, 2014 at Summers County Appalachian Regional Hospital following a short illness.
Born October 10, 1959 at Hinton, he was the son of the late Samuel Russell Bennett and Mildred Adkins Bennett of Hinton.
Russell was a former mechanic of Park Avenue Exxon and dispatcher for Hinton Taxi. He enjoyed NASCAR and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He loved fishing and being outdoors.
Besides his father, Russell was preceded in death by his sister, Wilma Angell.
Besides his mother, Russell is survived by his girlfriend, Pat Stewart of Virginia; two children, Mary Ellen Bennett of Hinton and Stevie Lucas of Hinton; nine grandchildren; five siblings, Bobby Bennett and wife Charlotte of Wyoming County, Debbie Grimmett and husband John of Columbus, OH, Gary Keaton of Hinton, Connie Ward and husband Tim of Hinton, and Michael Bennett and wife Pam of VA.
Funeral services will be at 2 PM, Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Bobby Reed officiating. Burial will follow in the Upland Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 PM until time of services on Saturday at the funeral parlors. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
