Russell M. Pierce Sr., 65, of Talcott, departed this life Tuesday evening at his home, following a short illness. Born April 12, 1943 at Virginia, he was the son of Mrs. Mabel Allen Pierce of Low Moor, VA and the late Clinton Pierce Sr. Russell was a member of the 2nd Baptist Church at Talcott, and was a retired employee of the Federal Corrections Institute at Alderson, following 22 years of faithful service. Besides his father, he is preceded in death by two brothers; Clinton Pierce Jr. and Richard Pierce; and one sister, Shirley Foster. Those left to cherish his memory include; his mother, Mabel Pierce, his wife of 41 years, Kenni Jackson Pierce; two sons, Russell Pierce Jr. of Talcott and Jonathan Pierce and wife Brooke of Chambersburg, PA; one daughter, Kenetta Pierce of Columbia, SC; two grandchildren Malik Rodgers and Adrianne Pierce of Chambersburg, PA; one brother, Ronald Pierce and wife Karen of Blue Ridge, VA; four sisters, Juanita Christian and Margie Matlock and husband Ronald of Columbus, OH, Sylvia Jean Jones and husband Leonard of Covington, VA and Deborah Adams and husband Robert of Roanoke, VA; special cousins Leonard Allen of Arlington, VA and Journey Chapman of Talcott and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. A celebration of Russellâ??s life will be held Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Earl Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pierce Family Cemetery at Talcott. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until funeral time on Saturday. Pallbearers: Lorenzo Crockett, Ronald Gore, Ronald Hopkins, Leonard Jones and James and Patrick Standard. A Memorial Meal will be served by the 2nd Baptist Church family, following interment. The family wishes to express their thanks to Dr. Waheed Khan and his staff, 2nd floor staff at Summers Co. ARH and the Kanawha Hospice.
