Ruth Ames

Ruth Jacqueline Gore Ames, age 90, formerly of Hinton WV, died unexpectedly on Friday April 25, 2014 at Shelby Manor Assisted Living in Shelby NC, where she had been in residence since 2008. Born on August 2, 1923 in Bertha WV, she was the daughter of the late John William Gore and Ethel Barton Gore of Hinton.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Hugart Ames, born in Sandstone WV, and brothers, Jason, John, James, Harry, Robert, Lindy, Charles and Frank Gore.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Ames Hodde and husband Edwin of Shelby NC; one granddaughter, Jennifer Hodde Baesman and husband Jon and children, Anna and David of Atlanta Ga.; one grandson, Jonathan Ames Hodde and wife Megan and children, Ian and Bailey of Estes Park Colorado; one brother, Chris Gore; a sister, Helen Gore Bennett, both of Hinton; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors, Friday, June 27, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the Restwood Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from noon until time of services at the funeral parlors.
