Harry O. Woods, Jr., 77 of Mark Meador Road, Hinton, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at his home following a long illness.
Born February 20, 1935 in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of the late Harry O. Woods, Sr. and Ada Courtright Woods.
Harry proudly served our Country in the U.S. Army retiring with 24 years of service. During this time he received awards for exemplary behavior, efficiency and fidelity including Good Conduct Awards along with numerous other commendations throughout his military career.
Woody loved his family and his friends whom he considered his extended family. His special passion was anything to do with old cars and trucks especially cadillacs which earned him the name ?The Cadillac Man?.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Rose Farley and Mary Frisbey, one brother, Robert Woods and also his late wife.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Janet Rush Woods, his step-son, Edgar Rush and wife Barbara of Hinton, step grandson, Joseph Rush, of Midway, brother-in-law Donald Reed and special friend Sandra Via, and nephew Patrick Reed of Hinton. Harry is also survived by his sisters Betty Zeitler of Hawthorn, CA, Sonya Econ and husband Joseph of Little Rock, CA, Jean Messer of Columbus and Ann Woods of Youngstown, OH, his brother James Woods of Columbus OH, a sister-in-law Elfriede Woods of Columbus, OH, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be Friday, January 4, 2013 at 12:00 pm at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors with Pastor Robbie Merritt and Dr. Roy Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Reed Family Cemetery on Madams Creek with Graveside Military Honors. Friends may call from 11:00 am until service time on Friday.
