Shirley Jean Cales, 65, of Hilldale, died at 3:05 P.M. Monday, September 10, 2007 at the home of her son, at Dunbar, following a long illness. Born July 26, 1942 in Fayette Co., she was the daughter of the late Calvin and Ruth Hurd Williams. Shirley lived most of her life at Hilldale. She was a member of the U.S. Army, having worked as a nurse at Walter Reed Medical Center at Bethesda, MD, a former nurse at the old Hinton Hospital and worked at the West Virginia State Prison for Women at Pence Springs. She was a protestant. Preceded in death by her husband Glendon M. Cales on May 15, 2006. Survived one son, Glen Camara Cales and wife Teresa of Dunbar; one daughter, Bethany Nicole Hedrick at home; four grandchildren, Trent Joshua Cales, Taylor Cales, Jordan Cales and Donovan Hedrick; one step-granddaughter, Alicia Meador; one Brother, Calvin â??Skipâ?? Williams and wife Debbie of Glen Jean, one niece, Stephanie Williams of Tampa, FL; one sister-in-law, Florence Cales of Christiansburg, VA and many close friends. Graveside services and burial will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the Woodrumtown Cemetery near Hinton with Pastor Sam Haught officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations of sympathy be made to the Kanawha Hospice Care, Inc., 540 N. Jefferson St., Box, 7 Suite D. Lewisburg, WV 24901
