Shirley Morgan

June 8, 1931 — January 20, 2011

Shirley Solinda Simmons Morgan of Hinton our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away January 20, 2011 at her home following a courageous battle with Alzheimer?s. Her loving husband Homer and daughter Susan were by her side. They were married in 1952 and shared 58 wonderful years together.

Shirley was born on June 8, 1931 in Durbin to the late Arcellous and Mona Bennett Simmons, a graduate of Greenbank High School in 1949 she then attended C&O Nursing School where she earned her Registered Nurse degree in 1952. Having worked many years as a dedicated and respected nurse at the Hinton Hospital and later as a home health nurse until her retirement in 1989, she enjoyed gardening, farming, canning, working with her flowers and doing puzzle books, and loved being with her family and her pets Clarabell and Spot.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Lynn Morgan in September 2010 and a great grandson, Anthony Taylor Morgan in 1993.

Left to cherish her wonderful memory are her husband, Homer Morgan of Hinton; two daughters, Susan Shrader and husband Ronnie and Ann Bennett and husband Dallas all of Hinton; two sons, Cecil Morgan of Alderson and David Morgan and wife Miriam of NC; nine grandchildren, Shelly Morgan Webb and husband Jimmy, Sabina Morgan, Courtney Turner Ford and husband Tucker, Amber Mills Stover and husband Frank, Jacob Morgan, Eli Morgan, Alexis Morgan, David Wayne Morgan and Homer Morgan; eleven great grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Nottingham of Durbin and Bessie Sutton and husband Ivan of MD; two brothers, Jim Simmons and wife Jean of OH and Ralph Simmons and wife Jo Ann of FL and she will also be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.

As per her request her body was cremated and a private service with be held by the family at a later date.
