Stephen A. Fowler, 55, of Beckley formerly of Washington D.C. peacefully transitioned on to the next level Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at the Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital following a short battle with lung cancer.
Born December 12, 1967 at Washington D.C. he was a son of the late Joseph E. and Camilla Dozier Fowler.
Stephen was a former DJ, a black belt in karate, a cook, dedicated family man, and enjoyed all aspects of life. He was baptized ten years ago by the Reverend James Cox and attended the First Baptist Church of North Beckley as long as his health permitted. Stephen was known to all his many nieces and nephews as “Uncle Big Dogg”.
He is preceded in death by one daughter, Stephanie Antionette and one baby sister, Sherrell Fowler.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving companion of 25 ½ years Mathel Ross of Beckley; Best Friend, Robbin Frye of Washington D.C.; one daughter, Joy Frye and one son, Antione Frye both of Washington D.C.; Honorary Goddaughter, Tasha Fountain and kids of Baltimore, MD; siblings, Denise, Joseph, and Patricia Fowler, Maria Watkins, and Endia “T.C.” Womack; Grandma, Bernice Pannell Frye and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Stephen’s wishes were to be cremated and there will be no services at this time.
