Talmadge Reed, 90, of Madams Creek, Hinton died 10:55 P.M. Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at the Harmony House in Lerona, following a long illness.Born August 26, 1918 in Summers County, he was the son of the late Asa and Sara Meadows Reed.Retired Shop Mechanic for the C&O Railroad, a Veteran of the United States Army who served his country during World War II and a member of the Church of the Nazarene of Hinton.Preceded in death by his wife, Edna Lilly Reed; one son, Ronnie Reed; one daughter, Phyllis Coffman; and four sisters and four brothers. Talmadge was the last member of his immediate family.Survived by two sons, Kenny Reed and wife Darlene of Wise, VA and Bobby Reed and wife Linda of Hinton; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; one son-in-law, Paul Dean Coffman of Hinton.Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastors Bobby Reed and Eddie Crews officiating. Burial will follow in the Restwood Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. on Friday at the funeral parlors.His grandsons, grandsons-in-law, Mark Meador and David Reed will serve as pallbearers.
