This is to announce the passing of Mrs. Thelma Ann (Peggy) Moye, September 9, 1926 â?? May 20, 2009. She was born in Union, WV. Peggy is the daughter of Andy and Mamie Canterbury, of Hinton. In 1945 she married the only true love of her life, Barney R. Moye (deceased, January 1991) of Mercer County, WV, a returning World War II hero. Peggy became a successful business woman in Hinton where she owned and operated a restaurant, and the only drive-in movie theater in Summers County. In 1957 Barney left West Virginia and settled in Phoenix, AZ. In 1959 Peggy followed, and moved to Phoenix with her three sons and was reunited with her husband. Together, Peggy and Barney worked, made a home and raised their sons. Peggy worked for various prominent businesses in the valley, for forty years. Upon Barneyâ??s passing Peggy retired, she sold the home place in central Phoenix and relocated to Gilbert, AZ. In 2002 she moved back to her home town, Hinton, WV, to be closer to her family. In 2007 she moved to Jasper, TN where she lived in the immediate vicinity of her oldest son. Peggy lived a productive and prosperous life although she worked and sacrificed for her three sons in an effort to insure that they had opportunities that she herself never had. All three of the Moye boys graduated from Arizona State University and have gone on to earn advanced degrees from other universities, as well as retiring from the military. Peggy and Barney are survived by their sons; Gary Robert, and his wife Brenda, of Jasper TN, James Andrew , and his wife Celia of Phoenix, and their three (3) children; Kristin, Adam, and Valentina, and David Wayne and his wife Tracey, of Tallahassee, FL, and their two (2) children George and Eva. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mamie and Andy, and by her sisters, Ruth, Gladys, and Edith. She is survived by her sisters, Glenna Harvey, of Peterstown and Nellie Mann Dixon, of Colorado Springs, CO. Funeral Service will be at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 30th, 2009 with Elder Jimmy Boothe officiating. The family would be honored and humbled by your attendance and presence one hour prior to service time on Saturday.
