Thomas Read

Thomas Leigh Read Jr., 89, of New Port Richey, FL went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 6, 2018 at his home following a long illness.
Born December 17, 1928 he was the son of the late Thomas Leigh Read Sr., former prosecuting attorney in Summers County, and Harriet Whanger Read.
Thomas was a graduate of Hinton High School and Marshall University of Huntington, WV. Thomas was an officer in the US Navy with a total of 17 years of service. He was the district manager of social security in middle TN having retired in 2010 with 49 years of civil service. Thomas was an avid reader who enjoyed traveling and visiting museums. He was active in the Elk Lodge and Kiwanas.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 25 years, Patsy Bryson Hancock Read; son, Thomas Leigh Read III and wife Tracy of Austin, TX; daughter, Nancy Shuping of Thompson Station, TN; stepson, Jason Hancock and wife Cassie of Smyrna, TN; three grandchildren, Meghan Shuping, Ashlyn Read-Rehner and husband Jonathan, Katlyn Read; step grandchildren, Malia Alley and husband Cody, Noah, Evan and Layla Hancock; special cousins, Alice Rae Riecks, Nancy Henry and Sarah Ann White; special childhood friends, Jimmy and Rowena Tassos.
Funeral services will be 12:00 P.M. Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Hinton Presbyterian Church with Pastor James Irwin officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenbrier Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until time of services at the church.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
