V. Louise Adkins

 V. Louise Adkins, 94, of Sandstone went home to be with loved ones Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Main Street Care following a short illness.

 Born September 21, 1929, at Sandstone, she was a daughter of the late James and Emma Wheeler Bowles. A homemaker, she loved gardening and spending time with her grandchildren, friends and neighbors.

 Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Curt Adkins, two sons, Jackie and David Cales, two grandchildren, Mike Ruger and Sandra Cales; two great grandchildren, Savannah Sue Cales and Summer Marie Cales; six sisters, Ina, Nellie, Juanita, Charlene, Clara and Zelma and two brothers, Conward and Eugene.

 Those left to cherish her memory include three children, Margie Ruger and husband Norm of Ohio, Hayward Cales of Sandstone and Jimmy Cales of North Carolina; twenty-four grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren, eleven great great grandchildren and two great great great grandchildren; one sister, Lorene Ayers; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and her special friends, Nicholas Ellison and Natalia Sampson.

 Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, July 20, 2024 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz. Friends may call from 11:00 am until service time on Saturday at the funeral parlors.

 Larry Lilly, Norm Ruger Jr., Pat Cales, Greg Cales, Josh Cales, Justin Farmer Dave Cales and Johnny Ratliff will serve as pallbearers.
