Vernon Dale Cales, 61, of Cleveland, OH formerly of Hix was called home by God at 12:25 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2012 following an accidental fall.
Born December 22, 1950 at Hinton he was a son of the late James Lacy and Euna Alice Richmond Cales.
Vernon lived on Hix mountain for twelve years. Then, following the death of his father he moved to Cleveland, OH where he resided with his sister until he was called home.
Preceding him in death include one brother, Ernest ?Bud? Cales; one sister, Barbara Anna Patterson and two brothers in law, Nelson Patterson and Edward Henry Bennett.
Those left to cherish his memory include one sister, Mildred Maxine Bennett of Cleveland, OH; two brothers, James Buford Cales and wife Virginia of Hinton and Nilon Hunter Cales and wife Ann of Sandstone; a very special nephew, Nicholas Leon Bennett, with whom he spent a great deal of his time. Several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sunday October 7, 2012 at Tempa Baptist Church with Pastor Bobby Reed officiating. Burial will follow in the Alderson Cemetery at Hix. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral parlors and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Great nephews will serve as pallbearers.
