Vickie Jo Carter, 61, of Front Royal, VA former resident of Hinton passed away Tuesday July 7, 2015 at her home following a long illness.
Born January 6, 1954 at Charleston, WV she was the daughter of June McCuiston Elwell of Lewisburg and the late Delvin D. Elwell Sr. She was a 1972 graduate of Hinton High School, attended Bob Jones University and graduated from Alderson Broaddus University with her degree as a registered nurse. Vickie served as director of several nursing homes. She was a Christian who loved her family, friends and the WV Mountaineers.
Besides her mother she is survived by her husband, Bill Carter of Front Royal, VA; two daughters, Sarah Zimmerman and husband Osbey of Hedgesville, WV and Catherine Wysocki and husband Trent of Falling Waters, WV; two step-children, Brian Carter of Middletown, VA and Ashley Carter, Winchester, VA; four grandchildren, Jayden Carter, Jade Zimmerman, Cora Wysocki and Trestyn Wysocki; two brothers, Delvin Elwell Jr. and wife Barbara of Shady Spring and Donald Dale Elwell and wife Brantlee of Ronceverte and one sister, Rebecca Lee Bates of Greer, SC.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday July 12, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Hinton with Rev. Doc Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Restwood Memorial Gardens near Hinton. Friends may call from 6-8 pm on Saturday July 11, 2015 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors and one hour prior to the services at the church on Sunday.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
