Violet Marie Buckland, 96, of Talcott went home to be with the Lord Friday, January 03, 2014 at Summers Nursing and Rehab following a short illness.
Born May 12, 1917 in Summers County she was the daughter of the late Tony and Cora Elizabeth Adkins. Mrs. Buckland was a member of Rollynsburg Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir for many years, a homemaker and lifelong resident of Summers Co. who enjoyed embroidery, reading her bible and cooking for family and friends. Her family will cherish the memories of her being a loving mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.
Preceded in death by her husband, Charley James Buckland; three daughters, Linda Sue Buckland, Donna Kay Buckland and Joyce Marie Adkins; two grandchildren, Phillip L. Ward and Angela Marie Adkins, two sisters and two brothers.
Those left to cherish her memory include four daughters, Cora Ann Meadows of Elkview, Ruby Ellen Gwinn and husband Harold of Hinton, Lula Mae Ward of Hilldale and Mary Carol Meadows of Buck; one son, Charles Buckland and wife Josephine of Glen Ruther, VA, numerous Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren who she loved dearly and one brother, Ralph E. Adkins of VA.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Rollynsburg Baptist Church with Pastor Dana Stalnaker officiating. Burial will follow in the Talcott Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 pm Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
