Violet Reed

Violet Crawford Reed, 88, of Wayside, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at the Summers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Hilldale, following a long illness. Born September 23, 1919 at Ballengee, she was the daughter of the late Claude H. and Rebecca Shanks Crawford. Mrs. Reed was a longtime member of the War Ridge Freewill Baptist Church, and was a 1938 graduate of Mt. Hope High School. Preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Rudolph â??Buddyâ?? Reed and one sister, Gladys Warden. Violet and Buddy had resided in several states including Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Florida. Survived by one sister; Vivian Rice of Wayside, four special girls in her life whom she helped rear; Scarlet Adair, Jennifer Ray Pinto, Rebecca F. Fox and Angela Rice Hodges and several nieces, nephews and in-laws. Graveside services and burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday at the Oak Grove Cemetery at Ballengee with Rev. Thomas E. Rice Jr. officiating. There will be no visitation.
